I’m Gia Rinella, a 20-year-old artist based in Utah. When schools were closed down in spring of 2020, I sewed hand-painted muslin patches onto my own tank tops for an art project. I only expected to make a few for family and friends, but am so excited that my hobby has now grown into Gia Milan Co.
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and my love for art and sewing began at a really young age; in part due to my vibrant surroundings, as well as the influence of my artistic family. I sewed my first dress by hand with my grandma at four years-old using scraps I collected from a neighborhood bridal store and have loved sewing ever since. (pictures further down)
Gia Milan Co. has been the perfect way for me to combine my range of interests, and I think it’s really fun experimenting with painting on different textiles. I spend up to seven hours on the patches for a tank and always make sure the paintings are up to my standards. All my items are hand crafted by me in my home with quality materials.
